Organizing Testing Documents: How to Build a Clear Product Configuration List
List critical components, power supplies and communications configurations by model to reduce document version mix-ups and missing sample information.
A product configuration list is a basic document for discussing testing requirements. Organize it by model, recording intended use, power supplies, main components, interfaces and communications functions, then link manuals, label photographs and existing documents to the relevant models.
When models share documents, create a separate comparison table distinguishing differences in appearance, functions, ratings and components. For unconfirmed differences, identify the responsible person and outstanding questions rather than assuming every model is identical.
Check the configuration list against the actual test samples and record its preparation date and version. The list helps organize information; it does not mean different models can automatically share test or certification results. The documents used and verification needed depend on the actual project.
