The Eurasian Economic Union developed from the Customs Union formed by Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, with Armenia and Kyrgyzstan joining later. It was formally established in 2015. EAC, short for Eurasian Conformity, is the product certification system established and implemented by the union.
I. What Is EAC Certification?
The Eurasian Economic Union developed from the Customs Union formed by Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, with Armenia and Kyrgyzstan joining later. It was formally established in 2015. EAC, short for Eurasian Conformity, is the product certification system established and implemented by the union.
II. EAC Certification Categories for Electrical and Electronic Products
Electrical and electronic products generally need to meet three standards:
TR CU 004/2011 on the Safety of Low-Voltage Equipment
TR CU 020/2011 on Electromagnetic Compatibility
EAEU TR 037/2016 on the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products (RoHS)
The first two standards generally require an EAC Certificate of Conformity (CoC), while EAEU TR 037 requires an EAC Declaration of Conformity (DoC).
III. What Documents Are Required for EAC Certification?
1. CB report and certificate, or an LVD safety report if unavailable
2. EMC report
3. CIG 023 factory inspection report, or select a certification body that does not require one
4. Application form
5. Instructions in Russian
IV. What Is the Basic EAC Certification Process?
Step 1: Select a certification body.
Step 2: Prepare the documents listed by the certification body.
Step 3: Submit the documents to the certification body.
Step 4: Provide a CIG 023 factory inspection report or undergo a video factory inspection, as required by the certification body.
Step 5: The certification body issues a draft certificate.
Step 6: Determine whether one normally functioning sample must be sent to the certification body, according to its requirements.
Step 7: The certification body issues the original certificate.
V. Is a Local Representative Required for EAC Certification?
Only a company established in a Eurasian Economic Union Member State can hold an EAC certificate. Companies outside the union cannot be certificate holders and may only be listed as the manufacturer or factory on the certificate.
VI. How Long Is an EAC Certificate Valid, and Can It Be Updated During Its Validity Period?
An EAC certificate may cover a single batch or be valid for 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 years. For electrical and electronic products, we generally apply for a 5-year certificate by default. Once the original certificate has been issued, it cannot be updated. Any change during its validity period requires an application for a new certificate.
VII. What Are the Advantages of GTG's EAC Certification Services?
1. GTG works directly with multiple EAC certification bodies, including local partners in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia. This supports diverse customer needs, competitive pricing and manageable timelines.
2. GTG offers multiple certification routes. Because EAC certification bodies have different requirements for reports, samples, factory inspections and annual reviews, we can tailor options to each customer's needs.
3. GTG engineers have extensive EAC certification experience and provide 24/7 support to help avoid delays caused by time-zone differences.
