EN18031

In 2022, the European Commission issued Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/30 supplementing the RED, introducing mandatory requirements for radio equipment cybersecurity, privacy protection and fraud prevention. The regulation takes effect on August 1, 2025. Radio equipment entering the EU must then meet the information security requirements of RED Article 3(3)(d), (e) and (f) or face a sales ban.

To help manufacturers meet EN 18031 information security requirements under the RED and reduce compliance costs and risks, GTG passed a rigorous assessment by Spain's Applus+ in June 2025, supported by its laboratories, technical solutions and professional team, and received authorization for RED certification.

EN 18031 Product Scope

Applicable products include most internet-connected wireless terminals, such as routers, cameras, smart locks, smart appliances, wearables, smartphones, tablets, children's toys and childcare equipment.

Specific Regulatory ProvisionsCorresponding Products:

Article 3.3(d): Equipment related to network protection;

Article 3.3(e): Equipment processing personal, traffic or location data;

Article 3.3(f): Radio equipment enabling holders or users to transfer money, monetary value or virtual currency as defined in Article 2(d) of Directive (EU) 2019/713.
