Product Overview

Drones comprise an airframe, propulsion system, flight controller, remote control and video transmission links, and a battery. Testing for different markets identifies RF bands, complete-product EMC, battery transport and product category requirements, while distinguishing product compliance from operational flight requirements.

The remote controller, onboard video link, antennas, transmit power and battery configuration are reviewed to cover combined operating modes and charging accessories. For applicable EU class marking requirements, the product class, technical documentation and conformity assessment route are checked early.

GTG Group provides support from technical document review and test plan confirmation through sample validation, report delivery and certification applications. Testing of the complete product, battery, wireless modules and power supplies is coordinated according to the target market and product configuration, helping manufacturers identify design issues, verify corrections and prepare technical documentation.

Test Basis & Assessment Priorities
Test Category Assessment Basis & Scope
Product Safety Drone products for the EU are assessed against Regulation (EU) 2019/945 and related requirements according to the applicable class. Test scopes for remote control, video transmission, batteries and charging equipment are confirmed separately.
Electromagnetic Compatibility Emissions and immunity tests are arranged according to the product category and operating environment, covering typical operating modes.
Radio Frequency Test items are confirmed according to the target market, frequency bands, antennas and transmission modes. Existing module reports are reviewed for conditions of integration into the complete product.
Battery & Charging Battery safety and transport tests are confirmed according to battery type, use and transport method. Charging protection in the complete product is also verified.
Performance & Environment Test conditions and acceptance criteria address remote control and video link RF, complete-product EMC, battery safety and transport, loss-of-link response, propulsion and runtime, and class marking documentation.

The applicable standards editions and scope are confirmed during planning. Reference:EASA Guidance on Drone Class Marking。

FAQs

Wireless testing is only part of product assessment. Confirm complete-product, labeling, technical documentation and applicable class requirements for the target markets. Flight registration, operating areas and pilot requirements must be checked separately.
They have different meanings. Drones subject to class identification marking must be assessed through the relevant conformity route, with declarations and technical documentation prepared accordingly. An ordinary wireless test report cannot replace a class assessment.
Provide the remote controller, airborne modules, antennas, firmware and test software, specifying frequency bands, power, bandwidth and operating modes so each transmission path and combined operation can be tested.
Provide cell and battery pack specifications, protection circuits, existing test reports and documentation for the associated charger or charging station. Engineers will confirm battery testing and combined product testing based on use and transportation needs.
First plan the project according to target markets, product configurations and test items, then confirm sample quantities and estimated turnaround times. Sample modifications, external certificate reviews and additional documentation may affect progress. Specific arrangements follow the project plan.
Prepare a complete product that operates reliably, associated accessories, test modes and full technical documentation, and explain model differences and software versions. Confirming scenarios, loads and acceptance criteria early helps reduce repeated adjustments during testing.
