Product Overview

A UPS maintains power to loads during mains disturbances through energy storage and power conversion. Common designs include standby, line-interactive and online systems. Complete-product assessment considers input and output parameters, battery configuration, bypass arrangements and load characteristics, addressing both safety and power continuity.

Key checks cover transfer between mains and battery modes, bypass operation, output voltage and frequency, overload protection, charge control and temperature rise during continuous operation. External battery cabinets, parallel systems and maintenance bypass configurations require defined wiring and isolation arrangements, with relevant fault responses verified.

GTG Group develops testing plans based on the target market, product configuration and existing reports, providing document review, sample validation, issue analysis, corrective retesting and certification application support. Coordinated assessment of the complete product, critical components and system interfaces helps manufacturers define the project scope and prepare technical documentation.

Test Basis & Assessment Priorities
Test Category Assessment Basis & Scope
Safety Requirements Within its applicable scope, IEC 62040-1 is referenced to assess the safety of the complete product and its energy storage connections.
Electromagnetic Compatibility With reference to the scope of IEC 62040-2, EMC test items are confirmed according to the operating environment and equipment category.
Performance Requirements With reference to IEC 62040-3, tests are developed according to output characteristics, operating modes and declared performance.
Abnormal Conditions Protection responses are verified under short-circuit, overload, control fault and communication fault conditions. Specific tests are determined by the applicable standards and system configuration.
Environment & Reliability Environmental, mechanical and continuous-operation tests are developed according to indoor or outdoor use, installation method and product claims.

The applicable standards editions and scope are confirmed during planning. Reference:IEC 62040-1、IEC 62040-2、IEC 62040-3。

FAQs

First specify the topology, output classification and claimed transfer performance, then select operating modes and load conditions. Different designs cannot automatically be considered equivalent in power continuity and dynamic output performance.
Agree on battery capacity and condition, charging conditions, ambient temperature, and load power and characteristics, then record how long power is supplied until the specified discharge termination conditions are reached.
Confirm the permitted battery voltage, capacity, cables, protection devices and charging capability. Assess safety, charging time and performance limits after expansion.
Develop the plan based on target markets, capacity, power, test combinations and existing documentation. Confirm separately the batteries for destructive tests, representative complete products and accessories. Turnaround time follows the project plan established after assessment.
Prepare specifications, circuit diagrams, critical component lists, software versions, protection logic, operating instructions and existing reports. Identify differences between models in the series and specify the target markets.
Engineers check report scope, standard editions, model details and actual integration conditions to determine which evidence can be accepted. Component compliance does not automatically establish compliance of the complete product or installed system.
