European Union CE-LVD — Detailed Introduction

1. Certification Overview

The Low Voltage Directive (LVD, 2006/95/EEC) harmonizes member states' rules for electrical equipment designed for specified low-voltage ranges.

2. Certification Mark

3. Product Scope

The Low Voltage Directive applies to electrical equipment operating at 50–1,000 V AC or 75–1,500 V DC. These ranges refer to input or output voltage, not voltages that may occur internally.

6. Certification Process

1. Application: Complete the application form, provide documents and send samples;

2. Quotation: Engineers determine the applicable standards, test duration and fees from the information provided;

3. Payment: The applicant accepts the quotation, signs the project application and service agreement, and pays the fees;

4. Testing: The laboratory performs the full test program against relevant EU standards;

5. Testing passes and the report is completed;

6. The project is completed and a CE certificate issued;

7. Certification Timeline & Validity

Timeline: Approximately 2 weeks. Testing problems, incomplete samples or other exceptional circumstances may require additional time.

Validity: Depends on whether the standard remains valid. If the standard expires, the certificate also expires and recertification is required.

8. Factory Inspection

No factory inspection required
