Product Overview

EV charging equipment provides controlled energy transfer to electric vehicles and is classified as AC or DC charging equipment. Testing considers rated inputs and outputs, charging interfaces, connection methods and operating environments, covering electrical safety, control communication and environmental protection.

Key checks cover protective grounding, insulation, protection against electric shock, abnormal power interruption, temperature rise and connector status detection. Vehicle connection, charging start and stop, and fault handling are verified. DC models also require assessment of coordination among power modules, output control and insulation monitoring.

GTG Group develops testing plans based on the target market, product configuration and existing reports, providing document review, sample validation, issue analysis, corrective retesting and certification application support. Coordinated assessment of the complete product, critical components and system interfaces helps manufacturers define the project scope and prepare technical documentation.

Test Basis & Assessment Priorities
Test Category Assessment Basis & Scope
General Requirements Within its applicable scope, IEC 61851-1 is referenced to assess charging equipment characteristics, connection conditions and electrical safety.
Interfaces & Communication Validation items are determined by the AC or DC configuration, target vehicle interface and control protocol.
EMC & Environment Emissions, immunity and enclosure protection tests are determined by equipment category, power, installation environment and target market.
Abnormal Conditions Protection responses are verified under short-circuit, overload, control fault and communication fault conditions. Specific tests are determined by the applicable standards and system configuration.
Environment & Reliability Environmental, mechanical and continuous-operation tests are developed according to indoor or outdoor use, installation method and product claims.

The applicable standards editions and scope are confirmed during planning. Reference:IEC 61851-1。

FAQs

They differ in the location of power conversion, output characteristics and control methods, so select tests for the relevant equipment type. General safety requirements may be coordinated, but a single report cannot automatically cover all configurations.
Connector specifications, conductor cross-sections, length, temperature sensors and rated current may affect temperature rise and protection. Provide details of the differences and confirm the verification scope.
First determine suitable simulators or load equipment based on interfaces and protocols. If actual vehicles are needed for interoperability, scenario or model-specific verification, agree on this during planning.
Develop the plan based on target markets, capacity, power, test combinations and existing documentation. Confirm separately the batteries for destructive tests, representative complete products and accessories. Turnaround time follows the project plan established after assessment.
Prepare specifications, circuit diagrams, critical component lists, software versions, protection logic, operating instructions and existing reports. Identify differences between models in the series and specify the target markets.
Engineers check report scope, standard editions, model details and actual integration conditions to determine which evidence can be accepted. Component compliance does not automatically establish compliance of the complete product or installed system.
