1. Introduction to SAR Testing

SAR stands for Specific Absorption Rate. An external electromagnetic field induces fields in the human body. Because body tissues are lossy media, these fields generate currents that absorb and dissipate electromagnetic energy. Excessive electromagnetic exposure from wireless terminals may affect health. Government and telecommunications regulators therefore establish limits to keep exposure from wireless products within safe levels.

2. SAR Laboratory

The SAR laboratory of a GTG Group affiliate uses advanced test systems meeting IEEE/EN and US ANSI SAR requirements. With fast, accurate and safe measurements, it tests SAR for phones, tablets, watches, wireless headphones, two-way radios, data collectors and other wireless terminals used within 20 cm of the body. It also tests electromagnetic fields from RFID and wireless charging products, hearing aid compatibility (HAC) for communications terminals, and power density for portable devices operating above 6 GHz, including millimeter-wave and Wi-Fi 6E products.
